Your room. Your space.
Bright, comfortable, and designed for peace of mind — every room at Dorward House is a place to feel at home.
Our facilities
Bedrooms
Our 32 bedrooms, laid out over two floors, are all en-suite, with nine of those featuring their own shower. All residents are encouraged to make their room their own when they move in, by bringing small pieces of furniture, treasured photos and pictures, or special ornaments.
Bedrooms are homely and personalised. Residents furnish their rooms with items from home, including their pictures and photographs. As a result, people felt more attached to their environment.
Our facilities
Fairview
Fairview is our eight-bedroom facility purpose-built for those residents with more complex needs, offering enhanced care and support. This modern area features a bright central lounge and dining space, a small adjoining kitchen, a cosy sitting room, and a beautiful conservatory opening onto a large, secure garden.
Residents in Fairview enjoy a calm, homely environment with the option to join activities in the main house. The space is designed to support daily living, from light household tasks to a wee bit of gardening or enjoying doll therapy, all of which helps residents stay active and engaged in familiar routines.
Our facilities
Communal Areas
The home offers three welcoming lounges where residents can relax, spend time with family and friends, or join in with daily activities. There’s also a peaceful lounge for quiet visits and a cosy tea room set up like a family kitchen, which is the perfect spot for a chat or even a lively birthday celebration!
Meals are enjoyed in the spacious dining room, which also hosts many of our larger social events. Upstairs, residents can enjoy the peace of our library. Downstairs, the hairdresser’s and barber’s room is always ready for a little self-care and a friendly chat.
(Residents) told us that the food was “excellent” and “of a very high standard”.
Of course, Dorward House is bigger than most people’s homes, and so our themed corridors and pictorial signage are designed to help residents find their way around.
The home is welcoming, calm, clean, and fresh. Thought has been given to making corridors and communal spaces cheerful and interesting.
Our facilities
Outdoor Living
We are renowned in Montrose for our beautiful, extensive gardens, which our residents make sure they take full advantage of when the weather is right! For sunny – and not so sunny – summer days, the custom-built Jean Adam Pavilion is the perfect place to enjoy a cuppie or a light lunch. The Pavilion is also the ideal venue in which to host a special private party.
Our facilities
Visiting Professionals
Continuity of care from visiting health professionals is part and parcel of life at Dorward House. Our residents can keep their local doctor and we support in-house visits from podiatrists, physios, dentists, opticians and the community nursing team.
(Dorward House) engages well with local GPs and the district nursing team. There is evidence of close working with the Angus care home support team and other specialist services, including the mental health liaison team. These partnerships have a positive impact on people’s experiences and health outcomes.
